Motivation

Bordmittel® was born from practice — not from a product idea, but from a recurring observation. – Bordmittel 4 the Win

In many companies, there is a gap between business and IT. Business requirements are implemented technically without truly understanding day-to-day operations. The result is complex solutions, low acceptance, and frustration among employees — even though productivity was supposed to increase. Out of this experience, Bordmittel® was created as a partner that translates, connects, and takes responsibility. We think entrepreneurially, act pragmatically, and never lose sight of the people within the process.

Based in Kempen on the Lower Rhine, we now work with customers and partners across Europe. Our perspective is regionally rooted, our ambition international. Early on, we recognized that functioning IT is no longer just an efficiency factor — it increasingly determines competitiveness, resilience, and the long-term viability of companies.

We founders come from IT and mechanical engineering and have ourselves worked in operational roles within industry. We know everyday reality between production pressure, real-world processes, and IT projects from first-hand experience — including the frustration when solutions miss actual needs or change is poorly managed.

What does Bordmittel actually mean?

The conscious use of existing resources for organizations that remain capable of acting.

In aviation, maritime operations, and industry, “Bordmittel” refers to the resources that are already available on board and must function reliably at the decisive moment. They stand for independence, reliability, and the ability to master challenges using one’s own resources – without unnecessary dependencies or detours.

In our day-to-day work with clients, this means making existing know-how visible, structuring it, and using it effectively — through clear processes, appropriate IT, and targeted automation. Only when these on-board resources have been fully utilized do we consider additional tools, new software, or external solutions.

At a time when change is often equated with replacement, we stand for strengthening rather than displacement. For decisions with foresight. For IT, digitalization, and AI that fit the company – not the other way around.
